Forward collision warning and deep snow

When trying to use the Xmode in my driveway in an 8 inch snowfall, it seemed as though there was no power. Couldn't get the car to move at all. I attributed this ultimately to the warning system.
I had to back up and get a running start to get over a bump going over the entrance to my driveway.
Do I have to shut off the collision warning system in a deep snow?
