Hello. I am a new member from England and am hoping for some info on my 2010 Diesel Forester which has a long standing problem with a clattering engine when cold which improves as it warms up. I have tried many remedies even servicing injectors, and would be grateful if anyone can tell me if diesels have more than one coolant sensors. Do they have separate ECU sensor, if so where is it? Thanks for any help

Hello. All diesel engines are clattery when they start up cold. The pistons are usually forged and have more clearance until they warm up. You might look for a winter type fuel additive like Lucas for diesel engines. See if that makes any difference.
