I have a 2003 Legacy L.
This car has 16” aluminum wheels and needs tires.
I have an opportunity to get a set of 15” Steel wheels with good tires from a 2002 Forester.

I was able to to a test fit in the junkyard.
The wheels go on and just barely clear the calipers. Not much more room than a sheet of paper between the caliper and wheel.

Is that a problem can I use these 15” wheels on my Legacy or do I need more clearance between the caliper and wheel?

run an angle grinder over the Close spots on the caliper. Just don't get too enthusiastic. & as your bearing wear and start to allow play check frequently for interference. I went from 15" alum. wheels back to 14" steel wheels ('93 dodge minivan) on my legacy to give me a little taller sidewall for a softer ride & a tiny bit more floatation when aired down
