I put a set of STI motor mounts in my '02 wagon a couple of months ago.
DIY? That depends on how handy you are. The rear nuts on each mount are
tough to get at, especially on the right side. I used a Crescent reversing
ratcheting wrench (like the second one down here
http://www.cooperhandtools.com/brands/crescent/index.htm ) to fit in the
confined space. It had just the right bend in it and luckily a 9/16 wrench
is awfully close to 14mm. I did the left one first, unbolting the center
nut, then raising the motor with a floor jack and a block of wood under the
oil pan (kind of nerve wracking, you need to lift the motor quite a bit)
then you can unbolt the front and rear nuts. Also, don't forget to unbolt
the pitch mount (it goes from the motor to the firewall under the
intercooler, if you don't unbolt it, you won't be able to lift the engine
far enough. Once the mount is out, you should be able to figure out how to
get the new one in. The right one is the tight one, that rear nut is really
tucked up in there. Good luck!

Depends on how much work you're willing to do and which engine mount it is.
I've never changed an engine mount on a wrx, but I would assume that the engine
would need to be lifted out enough to get to the mount and change it.
Personally if a dealer, or mechanic didn't charge over $100 for labor I would
stick with them.
