Folk,
In case this helps someone else out there, we've had a
long-standing undiagnosed problem with our 2.5L Liberty
RX that's just been fixed. The engine would suddenly jerk
every few seconds while at cruise, and recently, more
often. People here had suggested O2 sensors, sticky
throttle or bypass valves, etc.
It was a missing nut on the cam position sensor on the
front of the engine, leading to movement and inconsistent
readings. Surprising that it didn't throw a fault code,
but there it is.
