Hello forum.
Have a bit of issues with my 03 forester XT (JDM) with the ej205 motor and automatic trans.
I get a noise while accelerating and sometimes while accelerating/coasting on throttle. Seems to be bearing related. Seems more of a rotational scraping noise than a whir or howl. Does not change when I swerve side to side. (No noticeable change in sound like a typical wheel bearing) If the noise is present and I put the car into neutral, the sound goes away. Also doesn't make the sound if I go down hill (gaining speed while in neutral)
What I have changed/replaced/checked
- Brakes
- Rotors
- Dust shields around rotors
I am thinking it is maybe something related to the front diff?
Here is a video that I uploaded of the sound
Accelerating from start of video to approx 18 seconds, then decelerating from there on wards.
