Dash cam

Vantrue N4 Pro for me. Only took me 20 minutes to hardwire it for 24/7 coverage. Wish I would have gotten it before I paid $500 deductible on a repair due to a truck shedding ice on my front end. Won't ever drive without a dash cam now. BTW, I like watching "Whaam Baam Dash Cam" on youtube and amazed at some of the crashes.

Also a good one.
The Only problem I see is that they all require lots of hard wiring.

I installed an aftermarket back up camera with an aftermarket GPS in the old Subi and all I had to wire was the power to the backup camera and power to the GPS. The rear camera was wirelessly connected to the GPS and activated when the car was put into reverse. I'd connected the power for the camera to the backup lights circuit.
I don't see why they couldn't do similar with these cameras. There's switched power all over the car. As soon as there's power, start recording and sending video.

How did you guys avoid the Eyesight cameras or did you bother since they're static?

I'm not sure what you mean. All of my Subarus are 2005 and earlier. I wouldn't touch a 2010 or newer due to all of the issues people have with them, and the "facelift" for the Legacy model a few years after that is...butt ugly.

Don't understand your response. I assume you cars have the Eyesight cameras.
Someone the other day suggested that Suburu offer dash cam features using the existing cemeras both front and rear and I thought that was a excellent idea.

Apparently we don't understand each other. lol

No Eyesight. I wouldn't drive a car with all of that crap in it. It just makes people even worse drivers and less responsible citizens.

Yet it saves lives and adaptive cruse control is both handy and safe while auto dimming headlights are too. Blindspot monitoring, backup cameras etc etc. I'm afraid you're swimming up stream and cameras in cars will continue to proliferate.

BTW I'm the guy who helped convince the auto industry to adopt cameras, mainly for safety concerns if not for convenience in the first place. I was also somewhat of an enthusiast at the same time being a hard core off roader and rock crawler. I got too old and decrepit for the off roading so sold the rig that I mostly built myself. It continues it's off road adventures. Besides Im looking to move to Florida where there are no mountains or rocks to crawl on anyway.

Not driving saves all of the lives, but I don't see anyone biting on that one! i've been down this road on nearly every topic you can imagine. One can make any data tell any story they want. No one tracks deaths and injuries from LED headlights blinding people instead. They put screens in cars, but don't want you to use the one in your hand. It is all just forcing whatever path they desire at the moment. Nothing new from the government.

Auto dimming lights help. You're right. But there's a ton of data on the fact that all lights today are much too bright for allowing people approaching to see properly.

Different strokes for different folks. I'll take training, testing, and enforcement over cars that try (and fail...a lot) to make us drive better, anyday.

I know that you're the guy...and i'm not blaming you. I'm disagreeing with you. That's still allowed, right? I Agree to disagree...

Sure, that's just fine by me.
Some stuff I like but some I don't like.
For example I don't like LED lights for good reasons but no one is about to listen so I'll just have to learn to live with it.

Get a horse! LOL
