I have a Subaru Outback with 70,000 miles, I replaced all tires about 6 months ago. The tires have about 2000-3000 miles on them. I noticed one tire has sidewall damage and needs to be replaced.

Do I have to replace all 4 or can I get by with only replacing the damaged tire? I am planning to measure the tire thread yet today to see what the difference is.

I believe that because of the Subaru’s AWD system, you have to have four tires of very similar circumference. Other’s with more knowledge on this will surely respond.

Same brand, same model, same size. With as few miles as your tires have, you may be able to get away with replacing just one. Awaiting your tread-measuring results. But you will need to compare that to a corresponding new tire.
