My dealer recommended that I do Cvt and diff oil changes at 60k. Normal driving, this is not recommended in the manual.
But the issue is they want $400 to drain and fill the Cvt and $200 to drain and fill the two differentials.
I’ve watched YouTube videos on these jobs and I don’t get it. No special equipment, maybe 45 minutes total time. The fluid is pricey, maybe $150 total.
Anyone else experienced this and what did you do?

Your dealer is correct. Most dealers are not likely to do CVT oil changes. Stop-n-go driving is hard use and really cooks the CVT oil. $150 for the job is a smokin` deal.

I recently had the dealership change my CVT fluid. I recall that Subaru Japan says change the fluid every 3 years or 30,000 miles, while US dealerships suggest 60,000 miles. The price you were quoted seems a bit high, but frankly I don't recall what I paid.

The engineer at Subarun Japan said change CVT fluid every 5 years 3 years? I have the car for 5 years and still not be able to know about the CVT I believe the Japanese at Subaru in Japan not the Subaru dealers in all over America not to be trust like the a diseases I hate dealer there are all fake. when you do a change you remove only about 5qts not 12 qts
I don't believe a relearn after changing the fluid like change the motor oil not need a relearn or changing a bulbs the need to learn?

My transmission pan has a very slow leak. I'm just going to throw up up on jack stands on a level floor, drain, drop the pan, swap out strainer, reseal, and do the fill procedure. It's not worth it to me to pay somebody to do it plus I don't trust them anyway been burned to many times on shoddy workmanship.

As long you can remove the T70 bolt and the 8mm as well i can't remove it it's too tight even with my Makita torque drive wont bunch I don't know if is a factory torque or a dealer torque to make you to go to them i try to removed the wheels can't either the last time the dealer rotated them i removed only one nut with the torque drive the other won't bunch LOL
I order a breaking bar of 30 inch my 24 inch too short work great on my Honda Civic i don't know if they over torque in purpose i know it's 89fp they might torque at 100fp LOL i can go to the dealer so they do the ripping bank job. it's been 5 years now fluid degrade i have only 4K I order 6 bottles CVTFIII. I'm retired I still can do it i'm in shape. LOL

The first thing I'll check is that I'm able to crack open the fill plug. I'm not worried about it in regards to strength. I'm more worried about doing it nice and slow so nothing gets stripped. We will find out soon enough lol.

Mine is a 2014 with a TR580 and I believe the fill plug is an 8mm or 10mm hex. I'll have to confirm that though.

To be clear I'm just doing a service on the CVT since the pan has a leak. I'm leaving the differential alone.

I did differential drain & refills on my `17 Outback at 30L mile intervals.

Many concessions inflate the prices on these interviews when the job is quite simple. Personally, I prefer to buy the oil myself and do it or go through a small trusted garage.
