Cruise Contol button on 96 Outback

The light does not go on on the crusie control button on my 96 OB. Any ideas
how to remedy?

yep, go to your dealer. the light in the cruise buttons are covered by
lifetime warranty. they should never fail, according to Subaru.

it's a $3.50 globe, and takes about 5 minutes to change, but it IS a
warranty item...

Is this also true for the lights in other buttons such as the foglamp button
or the heated seats switch?

yep... all of the dash lights are covered by lifetime warranty, unlike the
rear numberplate globes, which I've changed 6 of in the last 3 months...

the reason I was given for this is that they SHOULDN'T fail...

Where specifically did you get this info about a "lifetime warranty"?
Also, is lifetime warranty available in the U.S. market? A couple of
the bulbs behind buttons in my 99 OBW are burned out (a seat warmer
bulb is one of them). Numerous posts have appeared on how to replace
these bulbs. I've never read anything that mentioned a lifetime
warranty on any component in my OBW. If there is such a thing, I'd
really like to hear about it.

Got the info from the service manager at two dealerships here in Melbourne
(Aus)...

A couple of mates have been back to get their dash lamps fixed since I was
told this, one on a MY98, and he wasn't charged a cent for the parts, or
labour...

Worth making the call to a local US dealer, to find out if the same applies
in the States...

I believe the "grain of wheat" globes are cheap all over the world, but if
someone will do it for nothing, why not go for it!!!
