Catalytic converter bad on 2014 Outback- already?

Hi, new here to this forum. I have a 2014 Outback and my check engine light has gone off about 2 or 3 times in the past year. Independent Subie shop says it’s the converter. I have about 120,000 miles on it. Isn’t this a little too soon? Is it indicative of something else wrong? Saving up to get it fixed.
