Cannot load my iphone contacts

Can anyone give me advise on my problem? I follow all the instructions to a T but cannot load my contacts into the system. Connecting my phone is not the problem.....it's my contacts......any suggestions and has anyone else experienced this issue?
I have a 2019 Ascent Premium

Go into phone settings on the car screen. Where it lists your phone, click on it and there should be an option to download contacts. If that doesnt work go into your phone settings and under bluetooth click the blue "i" next to the car connection and and see if the phone has contact sharing allowed.
