Ascent vs Outback

Hi there! Long time Subaru driver thinking about getting a larger one to carry the kids and their stuff back and forth. they're still young 2 & 5. we will buy the car so we want to make sure we won't out grow it in the coming years. I have been looking at the ascent for sheer size but wondering if the outback will suffice? has anyone had both of these cars, and if so which would you recommend.

obvious reasons for wanting the outback is the cost and the fact it's been out longer than the ascent. thoughts or advice is much appreciated. thank you in advance.

Subaru Outback is bang for the buck if you'll gonna use this as a family car. Ascent is fine but as your kids grow, interior space will be a problem. So outback is better than ascent on the long run.
