Many owners of the 2010 Subaru Legacy sedan and Outback will soo
receive a second recall notification for their cars in a period of
little over two months. In May, the Japanese company recalled bot
models over a problem with the continuously variable transmissio
(CVT). This latest recall concerns a "defect in the steerin
roll connector"

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said tha
Subaru has yet to release full details on the matter. However, i
appears that the problem is either identical or similar to the on
that recently led Subaru Australia issue a recall on the domesti
market versions of the Legacy (Liberty) and Outback

Is this related to the mysterious steering wheel 'shake'
at high speeds?

Sounds more like the 'clockspring' cable. I dunno.

yep, clock spring, or as it is called to us, the roll connector. some
between a lot number were not made to specs, so they get changed. I
got the change down to 15 minutes now...

Just an update:
Have changed at least 25 roll connectors so far, all due to the
production date. Now we have no reason why these are being changed.
Today I had a new car with a roll connector inspection AND a airbag
light intermittently on. The airbag code was for a faulty drivers
airbag. Replaced the roll connector and system reset. Will watch and
see if that did fix the airbag problem long term.
