New to me 2021 2.5L. When accelerating from a stop, there is an Intermittent hesitation. Does anyone what could be causing it. I may be causing it myself. I'm prone to left foot breaking. Am I confusing the computer because it senses that I'm trying accelerate and stop at the same time?
Thanks

Sounds like you have the start stop on...which is the default setting. Turn it off by pushing the auto start stop button. Unfortunately, you have to do this every time you start the car and before you drive.

EXACTLY .... ! Had the same problem transitioning from GM 2000's +, to my Subaru ... !

It used to allow "jack-rabbit" Starts in the GM type Systems ... but NO-MORE ... !

It causes exactly the OPPOSITE Effect !!!!!

I installed an after market stop/start switch and it works great, no more having to disable it every time I start the car. The hesitation existed before I installed the switch.

I think BarryB333 has the right answer.
I am an "old school" driver in my '02 Subaru Outback, so I always use my right foot for acceleration and braking.
---My left foot is only for the clutch pedal, which, of ourse, does not exist in modern Automatics and CVTs.
( I need the habit when I drive my old truck.) You might try practicing with your right foot only, because it might help your gas mileage. This does explain why I see people accelerating with their brake lights on!
You might try driving with your left foor on the "dead pedal" footrest instead.
Here in Oregon there are many accidents where people hit the accelerator when they meant to hit the brakes!
I recently drove my friend's '23 Subaru with "lane departure" tech. I had a problem with the steering wheel "cycling" (fighting me) as I drove on the freeway. It turned out that "the robot" will activate when one uses cruise control. My friend told me there was a special button to push to diminish (but not eliminate) the steering intrusion.

Mark Monte's post is one I can identify with. I retired after decades in law enforcement. I went through pursuit driving training back in the day and they taught using your left foot on the brake pedal and right foot on the gas pedal...for a number of reasons related to pursuit driving. I've never been able to break that habit and it drove me nuts when I purchased my first Subaru a few weeks ago. I do NOT like the auto stop/start as it relates to my left foot brake use...but also, it unecessarily puts wear and tear on the battery, spark plugs, engine and more. I'd rather consume a bit more gas.

So SAYS the Voice of Age & Experience ; but some still need to Learn The Hard Way ................... !

Auto stop start is terrible for you car or any other car for that matter. Only a gubberment ignoramus could conceive of such an idiotic idea. Only an MBA would put up with the gubberment crap.
Do yourself and your car a big big favor and go to autostopelimator.com. Then buy and install one of their devices as soon as you can and save yourself, your car and your wallet the pain and the aggravation.

AS i've mentioned, I'm in the DOGE type business and have been for many years. On one project at TIAA, they did two of many funny things. They put people four per cube to save money on space. Of course, no one did any work because, how could you. Phone calls...no one could hear anything. They also fired, on the same day and without any warning or prep, every consultant in the group, and there were a lot. All of that knowledge walked out the door and they called it a win also.

Does anyone Here remember the Advise from these various Forums back in 2016-2017 , that Subaru Batteries were given Special Lower Voltage Charging Programming (12.9-Volts-MAX !) so that they would benefit from FB25i-Engine Recuperative Energy available during Deceleration when Drivers either Slowed -Down or Braked ???
Just wondering , ... is there an UpDate on that Recuperative-Version of Battery-Charging , as it relates to these several different Types of Batteries now being recommended .... , and could this be affecting Drivability?? Just Wondering ... !!!! Or .. did Subaru finally Drop This Line ... of Production ?
Maybe they have tried to Re-Insert this High-Tech Feature, and it is what is causing the System to Hesitate, as it Switches from One-Mode to The-Other-Mode ... ??? Just wondering ..... !
