AC Not Cool

Hello. I have a 2015 Subaru Forester with 58k miles. My AC in my car is barely cold. It can get slightly cold if it's not actually hot outside but when it's actually slighty hot the air does not get colder than lukewarm. I think I hear it turn on when I turn it on. It has extended warranty from Subaru on the compressor but they told me they'll charge me $200 just for diagnostics if the issue is something other than the compressor, too expensive, right?
I think $200 is enough to buy an ac compressor replacement online such as Hexautoparts.com.
So what should I try and verify it's the compressor before I bring it?
Any suggestions ?

A/C not working is nearly never a large, expensive, hard part. In Subarus, it is commonly one or more O-rings. Once they test the system and open the system to atmosphere, just replace them all (with the hard part if it really is bad) and be done with it.
