99 Legacy sedan -- dead speedo

[X-Eliminator]

I have a 1999 Legacy sedan 4dr. and the speedometer intermittently
goes dead. It goes dead for a period of time measured in seconds, to
as long as all day. Anyone else had this problem, or can someone tell
me what is causing this ?? (what needs to be replaced/repaired)

Speedometer cable loose?

Doesn't seem like an electrical problem, rather a mechanical one.

My guess is a bad ground connection somewhere and I would start with the
battery to engine/chassey grounds. eddie
