98 outback/headlights-foglights

Ok,
I have a 98 outback limited. I want to upgrade my lights so I can
get better vision traveling on backroads that are usually dark and
sometimes foggy. Any help on what upgrade solutions I can easily
install to this car??? Can i just put halogen bulbs in or do you have to
change whole assembly? Foglights also.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide and maybe a link
to where to buy such parts on the net.
Ken

I have been using the Sylvania Xtravision bulbs in the headlights of my 96
Outback for a couple of years. They are a big improvement over stock, are
reasonably priced, and are standard wattage (no melted power supply wires).
They don't last as long as the stock bulbs, but the improved performance is
worth it to me. Your local Advanced Auto Parts or Walmart has them.

I haven't changed out the foglight bulbs. I don't use them that much, but
their performance seems adequate.
