7000 mile trip recently, averaged 21.9 mpg. 🤬🤬

Ran it across the scale out of curiosity.
4800 lbs wet. 😳
(1500 lbs more than our outback was) 🙄
So loaded with people/stuff it's 6000~ lbs, no wonder MPG sucks.
(Dealership is useless- "everything checks out ok"

Give her a chance to break in! At least 10k miles. Also keep your tires up to recommend psi!

Copy that.
Already at 13k miles and I check fluids/tires at least once a week.

It's an overweight, underpowered tank that doesn't idle/run/drive smoothly with Earl Scheib paint quality which is ridiculous at a $50k price point.

Dealership refuses to acknowledge issues. "It all checks out ok"

Sorry to hear all that.

They should repair the paint job a least? Call them on the carpet for this one.

Your vehicle is on the large side of the SUV market.

Add with a smallish engine, full time AWD, and cargo....I get it.

But, are you doing better than 22 mpg on the freeway yet?

And I hope you have performed an oil change. Only full synthetic oil as recommended by your owners manual.

75%+ of our driving is freeway.
It should go at least 500 freeway miles on a full tank, so far 400 miles is impossible.
(actual miles divided by gallons)
Best ever mpg was 24.5(once),
was during two hour period between available gas stations.
"Locking" it in 8th gear doesn't help because the computer will override that whenever it feels like it.
Always dealer serviced with full synthetic oil and Subaru filters.

It has other issues, I wish I could dump and run, but it has apparently lost $15k in value due to mileage.

Dealership is too cheap to give an actual 10% veteran discount....
Next closest dealer has terrible service reviews....

Sorry to hear this. But, thanks for the post! It warns others not to take the plunge as you did. Do you think you will bail and take the hit on depreciation?

IDK. Fixed income....
I plan on giving Subaru America an earful, but don't expect much of a response.
It is the wife's car, but I get to drive 98% of the time.
Thanks.
