2020 Outback Apple carplay icon grayed out, solved

Messing around with all the new functions on our Outback, we could not get the Apple carplay to work and realized the icon was grayed out on the car screen. We thought that the new I phone 11 would be up to date but it was not, ran an update on the phone plugged it back in to the car and the icon turned green and now works correctly.
