So my mother’s 2018 Crosstrek’s battery died, so the key fob can’t be used to unlock the doors. Trying to use the key in the drivers door lock cylinder isn’t doing anything when trying to unlock it. When Turing the key I don’t feel any resistance as if the lock rod inside the door isn’t connected.
So I’m looking at alternatives on how I can access the vehicle. Can the hood latch be accessed through the grill? Is it possible to hook the latch and pull it manually instead of using the handle under the dash? I can’t get to the handle because of the door lock issue.
. If I could get the hood open then I could jump the car or change the battery so the fob would work again and then look into fixing the door lock.
