4 cylinder 2015 Subaru legacy, 122k miles, CVT transmission that has been serviced according to user manual
- There are no lights or warning indicators
- This issue occurs every year when temps drop below freezing (around December where I live)
- The issue manifests as the transmission "slipping" or "grabbing" when cold starting, also accompanied by the transmission fluid pump "screaming"
- The issue started happening after I had warranty transmission repair done under 100k miles, the dealership said it was the "valve body" (not immediately after, it occurred months later when temps dropped)
- I took it to the mechanic (2nd time for similar issue that occurred a little over a year ago)
- Mechanic says the transmission is "purging" fluid - the transmission is getting overheating and cooking off the fluid, has no idea idea
- Mechanic topped up the fluid and said to monitor the issue in case it returns
What would cause my transmission to overheat? From what I understand the transmission it cooled by a passive radiator.
