2013 Subaru Legacy 2.5l

Hey guys, just a question regarding the 2013 Legacy 2.5l non turbo. It has 96k miles, it was sent as a 16 birthday gift to my son from my sister, she lives in California and we live in Ontario Canada. First thing we did was change the tranny oil at the Subaru dealer and in the next few weeks we will bleed the brakes, power steering, front and rear diff oil change, replace the upper and lower hose and the thermostat, (replacing the hoses as they look like they have seen better days). My question is regarding the oil, we have a 2021 Ascent and I use WIX XP filter and Idemitsu oil, my question is regarding the oil for the Legacy, it states to use 0W20 however I am not sure if I can use GF-6 in this vehicle, planning on having this car for a long while so going with 5000km oil change interval, cheap insurance I think.
