We went in for an oil change they said you’re battery was going bad, so we got a new battery, next day car didn’t start, I looked the negative terminal was broken, they replaced the.negative cable with an OEM, got the car back and it turns harder to the right now, it didn’t before. Now they claim it needs a new power steering rack and pinion for $2000, asked them if maybe the sensor needed to be recalibrated after some research, can’t be a coincidence it started right after changing battery and cable, guy sounded annoyed at the question, anyone have any advice?

This is a reputable Subaru dealership.

Get another opinion...for starters.
Yeah, feel like if I take it from the dealership, they can deny any responsibility. It only has 3 miles on it since we had the battery replaced and the 102 point inspection didn’t mention it after the battery swap, but it did after the cable replacement. It obviously is an electrical issue caused by one of those 2 things.

Ok. But they gonna deny they caused it either way. And i dont know you can do anything about that.

Luckily we have 6 months left on our Route 66 Easy Street warranty, looks like it’s covered either way, who said extended warranties are a bad investment, $1400 and prob had 4-5k in repairs after this.

MAny people say that. I am not one of them. I always buy new and keep cars at least 15 years...20 is my record.. Get at least 5 if not 7 year warranty. EVERY single warranty I have ever gotten at minimum paid for itself and several went way way beyond that,,usuallly by thousands. looking at you 2004 Sienna with 20+ recalls in 10 years.

I keep an extended warranty on the Beemer, and I'll have to decide about the Subie.
BTW, they didn't have to take out, or disturb, a splash guard, changing the battery? Physical interference?
