2013 Impreza -- no a/c from left side

The only thing I can think is a flap diversion valve somewhere in the duct work not functioning as it should.
Are your driver and passenger sides set to balanced or split?
If split, and isolated, maybe there's your problem.
Just in case your car has this feature, mine does, here's a video.
It's called sync.

This is my first car with this feature and I wonder if it has any real value. These days it's just me and the dog and the dog sits on the center console most of the time. Or else in the back seat.

I am an Aircon engineer, this normally happens when your gas is low. Get somebody decent to have a look at it and check for leaks and if no leaks then recharge.

left side of dash is blowing warm air and right side is blowing cold. Any ideas?
Low on freon (R134a refrigerant) can make only half of the evaporator get cold
Common on Ram trucks, low on freon, the passenger gets cold air and the driver gets warm

But where did the freon go...and won't the new freon go to the same place.

Like I said, check for leaks before refilling, all cars though lose between 10% and maybe 15% per year anyway even on a good system.

It's not freon anymore. Once they found the hole in the ozone layer, freon was banned and other coolants were adopted.
To answer your question it simply evaporates and blends into the atmosphere. The fact that it readily evaporates, is the reason it's used as a coolant.
