Hi I have a legacy GT IT Has some upgrades like turbo , invitia exhaust kn air cleaner ,injectors ect ,, bigger intercooler ,
So I had installed a oem clutch exeddy and it failed in like 1 yr ,
OK so My oem clutch was 8 7/8 inch . I spoke to ACT clutch they said best clutch would be a sti clutch which is 9.4 inches , so I ordered clutch and bought a new sti flywheel , I installed it and the throw put bearing seems to not have proper clearance and seems to not move the lever if I try to pry it , my question is . is a sti clutch comparable for a legacy gt? my legacy gt is 5 speed , and I think all sti are 6 speed , help with advice to get it going I did not pull it apart yet just happened with I went to bolt on slave cyl thanks LOU

Talk to a Subaru performance shop to get sorted. Don't ask the Internet...

I will say that if you're killing clutches, you're doing something wrong or something is installed wrong. In a street car, a clutch should last nearly forever barring race use. I put in my first one at 130k, and the clutch was fine, but the throwout and pilot bearings failed...and that car was abused from mile 1. I'm not sure that I have put a clutch in any of my others, regardless of miles/use.

Only 1 faIed I think due to the build of engine vs the stock subaru clutch , anyway , my question was if a sti clutch would work in a 5 speed , I was told by act it would with sti flywheel but they were wrong so I went with a wrx flywheel and a 235 mm in place of 222 stock legacy gt
