2004 WRX rough idle

My 2004 WRX drives fine, but it shakes when I am idling. I bought it to the
dealer and they say it's normal. All they suggested to do is to change the
fule filter. I am going to do that, but just want to know if anything else
could have caused this. Could anyone give me some advise? Thanks

I'm taking my 05 baja in on monday same thing. On the phone the dealer
told me this was not normal, some kind of idle adjustment. I'll let you
kown when I get it back.

Hi Sean,

I have a 02 WRX. Because of the Subarus' boxer engine design, its natural
for the engine to 'shake' a bit at idle. If this is your first experience
with a Subaru, the shake may seem excessive. But if the idle is steady, its
probably normal.
Cheers,
Dai

My 2002 WRX shook at idle, and so does my '04 STi. It's a slight shake in my
case, but certainly noticeable enough that my wife turns the ignition off
when I let it idle and leave her in the cab for a few minutes. She
misinterprets it as a cold-engine-like behaviour common to older domestics
that are about to stall, but from -30C to 38C neither car ever did...

I.e. I wouldn't worry about it. If your car goes into limp-mode then there's
something to start wondering about--but otherwise try to get used to it.

I have a 2003. It will run smooth.. shake a little..smooth. It hits a rough
spot every few seconds. The tach stays steady so I never worried about it.
Keep us posted if changeing the fuel filter does anything.
