2001 Forester - Vibration

B

BRH

Now that I'm 500 miles out of warranty, I've begun to notice a slight
vibration in the area of my right front wheel in my 2001 Forester L.

This vibration is only felt a second after I pull away after starting
the car (particularly if I'm backing out of a parking space). It lasts
for only a second or so, then I don't feel it again. It almost feels
like the right front tire is running over a slight rumble strip. It
occurs only when the car has been standing for awhile, and only if I
apply throttle when backing out. If I just put it in gear and let the
engine revs slowly back the car away, I don't feel it.

Any idea what might be causing this? And concerned should I be? I'm a
little upset that it just appeared now, as my 36K/36 month warranty has
just run out.

Thanks.

I do expieriance the same, but I have to say at (too) low RPM. Anyway, I'm
interested in anyone's opinion about this item

Someone suggested to me to try NOT applying the handbrake when parked to see
if the vibration goes away. I keep forgetting to not apply it though. Tough
habit to break.

He said that it could be a brake caliper "freezing" while parked, then
unlocking as the car starts to move.

If we both try it, maybe one of us will remember, and report back here?

I don't think it's the handbrake. In a flat country as I live in (The
Netherlands), I seldom use it. In my case the vibration is felt backing out
as well slowly pulling up forward.
