I went off and left the ignition of the Forester on, and when I returned the
battery was dead (it's the original battery in a car that was new in the fall
of 1998). I put the battery on the trickle charger overnight and immediately
the parking lights (the amber ones in front and the red ones in back) and
dashboard lights started blinking.
The lights are on for one second, off for one second, thirty cycles totaling
a minute. Then they are off for ten seconds. Then it repeats.
Messing around with light controls does nothing. The car starts and runs,
but the blinking continues.
Now I have the battery disconnected.
Can anyone suggest what's causing this peculiar behavior and how I can make
it stop?
