1995 Impreza L Power Steering Leak from Reservoir

Hi,
I have a 1995 Impreza L 2.2 that is leaking power steering fluid from
the p.s. reservoir. It leaks where the two halves of the reservoir
mate. I think it is a faulty design. I was looking at replacing the
tank with the revised design on the 1997 model Impreza. The design of
this tank would be much less prone to leakage.

Does any one know if it is possible to mount a 1997 Impreza ps
reservoir on a 1995 Impreza?

Fairly certain there is a gasket where it is now leaking.

There may be a gasket there, but there is no way to separate the two
halves of the reservoir short of breaking what appear to be spot welds
(??) holding them together. There is only one SOA part # (34412AC020)
for the entire reservoir.

There definitely is a gasket between the two halves of the reservoir on
the 1997 Impreza, and a SOA part # for each half and the gasket. That
is why I want to retrofit the 1997 reservoir to my 1995 Impreza.
Anyone know if this will work??
