14 Impreza A/C problem

Got a ‘14 Impreza with 170K. Factory compressor was dealer replaced when it failed while in original warranty and has been good since.
For a couple weeks, the a/c comes and goes while driving. It’ll be nice and cold, then slowly get warm. Then all of a sudden, cold again.

Refrigerant was normal pressure, but I let it take a half can of 134a. No real improvement.
The clutch seems to cycle off and on quickly, even when set to max A/C. Kinda makes me think an electrical gremlin, but I’m not sure.

Hoping someone could enlighten me. I don’t want to dump a bunch of money into diagnostics and repair, if I could DIY it.

From what you say, it sounds kinda normal to me. It's supposed to cycle on and off and there's a normal amount of hysteresis programed into most AC systems.
